The Touristy Stuff

Part III

PSR - Ballarat - Darwin Falls

PSR... Panamint Springs Resort... What can you say about a place like this. Friendly, accomodating, comfortable... Ya you can say all that just about anywhere. But this is not just anywhere USA. This is Panamint Valley. Right next door to Death Valley. This place is not just a nice place. It's about as unique as it gets when you consider how long it as sustained life in a very harsh environment. Water is key and PSR has always had it's own. Hey maybe we should bottle it?

I went out briefly one morning to check out Ballarat and found Rocky there. He was all excited about the new truck he just purchased form the FS. He also told me that his father George has fully recovered and is out galavanting around with a woman from Trona. This is really good news.... Ballarat looked the same as it always has so I talked to Rocky for a while and then took leave back to PSR.

Another thing we accomplished was a trip to Darwin Falls. Chris had to check the water pipe anyways so again we hopped into the X and took off. Darwin falls is a definate must for anyone hanging out at PSR for more than an afternoon. It's cool and wet. What else could you want on a hot August afternoon in the middle of the desert.

So ends another trip to Panamint and Death Valleys. It just keeps getting better and better with each trip. Thanks to the staff at PSR for making my stay a comfortable one. Thanks to Chris for his efforts at PSR and thanks to Jessica for the Cover Shot of this trip report!

One of these days I'm gonna get indoor plumbing... Now this is a cee-ment pond.... The pond behind Chris' place. Tabby just couldn't resist.
A group of bikers stop by for a rest. And then they leave. Tabby follows Chris up the path to Darwin Falls. At the time we didn't know that there are NO DOGS ALLOWED. Chris does not want to be recognised.
Tabby The Wonder Dog just can't stay outta the water. This was her first and last trip to the falls I guess. Look at that face. Again, at the time we didn't know that there are NO DOGS ALLOWED. Rocky's new dog Potlicker out front at Ballarat. Tabby is not impressed... Rocky with his new truck.
Always have to get a shot of the truck... The very rare PSR Jack-O-lope only found in Panamint Valley during fishing season... Chris buys me dinner... Photo of Seldom Seen Slim over the bar at PSR.
